Yoghurt Digital is a team of data lovers, number crunchers and digital strategists dedicated to driving performance for our clients. As part of our ‘meet the team series’, we step into the mind of Account Manager, Vivian Tao.

1. What do you do at Yoghurt Digital?

I’m an Account Manager at Yoghurt! I’m basically a project manager, relationship schmoozer, and digital strategist all in one. I make sure that specialists in our SEO, UX and Biddable team have all they need to deliver great work. I build relationships, keep my clients happy, and basically live in Asana.

2. If you weren’t doing that, what would you be doing?

I’d probably be a deep-sea marine biologist. I’m equally terrified but obsessed with ocean creatures, especially those wacky deep-sea creatures out there. Did you know that the female angler fish absorbs its male counterpart when mating? Talk about strange.

You think I’m weird, don’t you? Keep reading; you know you want to.

3. What does a typical day look like for you?

Like any role, there really isn’t a typical day for me, but usually, the first thing I do is open up my calendar to see what meetings I have and prepare for them. One day I might be catching up with my clients over a monthly reporting call, and the next, I might be planning for a product launch or looking over a strategy document to be presented to a new client. Sometimes I could be doing something completely different, like attending a lunch n learn or one of my favourite pastimes, sending memes to our Slack channel.

4. What is your favourite thing about working at Yoghurt Digital?

2 things – the people and the dogs. The culture and environment at Yoghurt are sensational. We have such a flat structure and open door (or calendar) policy with the leadership team. Everyone is so switched on, solution-oriented and kind.

Also, here are some pics of our fur babies – Pickle, Louie and Shadow.

5. What are the values that drive you in work and life?

  • Be Curious – curiosity doesn’t kill the cat. It makes you dig deeper, develop more knowledge and fosters creativity.
  • Be Honest – the truth hurts sometimes, but delivering and receiving it allows you to grow as a person.
  • Be Yourself – there is only one version of you. Embrace it!

6. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love lifting weights, travelling and music festivals. All of which I cannot do because we’re in lockdown. But you know. We’ll get there one day.

7. What are your top 3 favourite books OR podcasts, OR movies?

  • Podcast: Extremes – The host of this podcast interviews people who have been through extreme situations, such as a serial killer’s dad, someone who accidentally became a millionaire from an ATM glitch & someone who escaped a cult.
  • Book: Bad Blood – The story of this biotech startup created by Elizabeth Holmes and how they got away with some pretty scandalous crimes.
  • Movie: Ex Machina – robots becoming sentient, what’s not to love?

8. What’s the best advice you have ever received?

There is no such thing as failure. Even if you step into a challenge and don’t get the outcome you were hoping for (for example, getting rejected at a job interview), you still gain valuable learnings from the experience of the challenge.

You only fail when you don’t step up to the challenge. So basically, the world is your oyster.

9. What’s your favourite bar in Sydney?

When I was in uni and dirt poor, I absolutely loved hanging out at Sanctuary Hotel for their $10 long islands. Now with a more refined taste, it’s gotta be Uncle Mings. The cocktails and snacks are bomb!

10. If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Bubble tea. Or wontons.

11. What’s your favourite place in the world and why?

New Zealand – South Island. It’s like driving through a postcard.

12. What is your spirit animal?

An alpaca, because they spit half-chewed food on you if they don’t like you.
